A wide range of personalised physiotherapy equipment and mobility aids enable students to follow personal physiotherapy programmes and develop physical well-being throughout the weekly timetable.

Our fully equipped sensory room is timetabled for small class groups and individuals, according to need. An ideal setting and resource for sensory drama and story-telling, or a calm space for those times when a break is needed from the busy college day.

We have strong links with the community and a number of Creative Arts practitioners. In addition to our own ‘In-house’ Art exhibition and displays, our Art and Design work is exhibited at times throughout the year at venues across Brighton and Hove.

Our small gym provides the students with the opportunity for daily exercise and sensory activity under supervision. We also have the use of the new gym facilities at Varndean College.

Our students can practice domestic skills in our fully equipped life skills room. Facilities for cookery, cleaning, laundry, personal hygiene and general household safety help the students as they learn independence.

LF19We have two minibuses which are used to extend our curriculum into the community and support students in generalising the skills they are learning at college.

Students take part in keeping their environment tidy and clean. Recycling is part of our Duke of Edinburgh service section.

Students have a wide range of leisure time activities to choose from during their break times.

We have the use of the Surrenden Campus playing fields during P.E activities. We also have secure garden areas which are used throughout the week for horticulture, break time and sensory sessions.

The inclusive ‘Hone Room’ at Varndean College provides the ideal opportunity for our students to practice both social skills with mainstream peers and money skills in a safe ‘real’ environment. All students use this facility with varying degrees of independence as appropriate.
