Brighton & Hove Healthy Lifestyles

BHCC’s Healthy Lifestyles team have launched a YouTube channel with a variety of videos to help support a healthier lifestyle. This includes virtual exercise sessions (zumba, yoga and pilates), healthing cooking videos and mental health quizzes.

They’ve also set up a Healthwalks winter walking challenge group on Facebook. Aimed at helping you to be active every day and spend time outdoors, they’ve come up with challenges to help you keep walking.

BHCC’s Wellbeing Zone provides a whole host of tips and advice on supporting you, your friends and family through Covid-19.

Having a Wellness Action Plan is a great way of reminding us what we need to do to stay well at work…and details what our line managers can do to better support us. It’s something designed for you and your manager to collectively develop to proactively manage your mental health.

NHS Every Mind Matters

The NHS Every Mind Matters website provides a huge variety of resources and advice to help you make small changes that fit your life, so you feel better and healthier every day – both for your mind and your body – and gives access to simple planning tools and apps to help you along the way.
The NHS Mood Zone offers advice on how to combat stress, anxiety and depression

Mental Health & Mindfulness

Mindfulness information from the Mind in Brighton and Hove website. They also provide a list of mental health and wellbeing apps covering a variety of topics.

Mental Health Foundation has a vision of good mental health for all with prevention at the heart of what they do. They have a variety of resources including how to guides on looking after your mental health and links to podcasts for your wellbeing.

Mindful is a site dedicated to sharing the gifts of mindfulness through content, training, courses, and directories.

Community Roots is a Brighton-based hub that signposts to available local support, ranging from help with talking therapies, sleep, mindfulness, money and debt, and domestic abuse

Action for Happiness is a movement of people committed to building a happier and more caring society.

Bupa’s Mindfulness Explained website provides information on everything you need to know about Mindfulness.

Men’s Health Forum provides a number of resources to support beating stress with tips, tools and quick wins to help you feel better.

The Samaritans have set up a Coronavirus page providing expert advice and support to help you cope during the pandemic.

Samaritans – whatever you’re going through, a Samaritan will face it with you. call 116 123, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

Sussex Mental Healthline – freephone 0300 5000 101 – provides 24/7 support from registered clinicians. As well as crisis support it provides psychological support to anyone with general concerns about their mental health, and if needed they can refer you for local assessment and treatment

The British Nutrition Foundation provides a number of resources and advice on healthy eating and even has a Teacher Centre with free online training.

Physical Health & Wellbeing

The NHS have launched the Couch to 5K programme to help encourage and improve fitness and physical activity during the pandemic.

World Walking invites you to find fun in fitness and reap the benefits of a healthier, active lifestyle.

Creativity and Wellbeing

Hullabaloo Community Quire provides access to virtual community singing sessions in Brighton – all done via Zoom!

Evolution Community Creativity Health provides access to a number of creative and mindfulness workshops in the area.
